What is a Hair Preview?

Please set aside 2 hours, or 3 hours for glam waves hairstyles.

Your stylist will be traveling to you for an in depth 120-180 min consultation/collaboration, consider this as a preview session, like a dress rehearsal before the big show. For this reason, previews are typically scheduled 6–12 weeks before the wedding, when your vision, dress, and overall aesthetic are fully aligned. This timing allows us to fine-tune every detail with intention and confidence, ensuring everything comes together seamlessly.

It all starts with the consultation.

You’ll get to share photos, talk about your wedding day vision, style 1-2 looks (if you’re in between hairstyles) & try on your hair pieces & veil! Along the way, you can talk through all of your hair dreams & with that, we will offer thoughtful guidance and expert feedback.

The experience is intentionally flexible. Whether you want to be hands-on or prefer to sit back and trust the process, both are equally encouraged. After your preview, you’ll receive a follow-up email checking in on how the style wore throughout the day — living in the look is the best feedback. If you loved it, we want to hear it. If you’d like to refine anything, we’ll make sure it’s exactly right.

And don’t forget to share your Instagram — you’ll receive all of the photos we captured during your preview as well.

This is the total for your hairstyle or hairstyles on the day of the wedding.
Your stylist will be traveling to the getting ready location to style you for one look on your wedding day to last through both your ceremony & the reception! Styling typically takes around 60-90 mins. After the hairstyle is finished, your stylist departs.
- Travel is waived for all locations under 90 minutes away from Ellington, CT
- All locations 2 hours away or more are $1 per mile one way from Ellington, CT to your location.
- Accommodations are required for all locations 3 hours or more away from Ellington, CT.

The total for both your hair preview and your wedding day hairstyle are

collected all together at the hair preview.

What do I do with my hair?

For the best results, hair should arrive clean and completely dry, as this allows the style to hold beautifully throughout the day.

Please shampoo as you normally would, washing twice and focusing on thoroughly cleansing the scalp and roots to remove any product buildup or excess oil. This step is essential—residue at the root can interfere with shine, volume, and longevity. When buildup is present, curls can appear overly soft or separated at the base. Rest assured, with professional products and technique, we can create any texture needed.
In most cases, washing your hair within 24 hours of️ of your appointment yields the best outcome. That said, we may tailor this routine after your consultation and hair preview based on your hair type and the look we’re creating.
When blow-drying, aim for hair that is smooth and fully dry, but not pin-straight. Perfection isn’t necessary—just a clean, dry canvas to begin.

If your hair is on the finer side, applying a light root-lifting or volumizing product while blow-drying can be especially helpful. Feel free to let me know what products you’re using ahead of time, just so I can be sure we’re aligned.

Try to skip the flat iron before your appointment — I’m happy to refine, smooth, or perfect anything once we’re together.

Please avoid ponytails, clips, or messy buns prior to styling, as these can leave bends or impressions in the hair that are difficult to remove.

If you’d prefer that I blow-dry your hair for you, that’s absolutely an option as well. In that case, a $75 blow-dry styling fee will be added to your service total.

For styles utilizing natural curls:
-Every curly girl has their best hair day after washing. Take note of the day when your curls look their best & try to coordinate this with the wedding day.
-For naturally curly hairstyles, please arrive with curls in their natural state.
-You can totally use your favorite curl cream or wet styling products for prep beforehand. The goal is to keep your hair moisturized, bouncy, and frizz free.
-Don't worry if anything is frizzy or unruly that morning, I can always touch up your curls to mimic the natural pattern.

-If your hair is curly & you are looking for a wavy/straighter style (ex. loose waves, beachy curls or glam waves with the curling iron) please blow-dry style with a round brush prior to arriving. The goal for these styles is to have your hair smooth with movement, without being completely straight.
Please avoid the flat iron
-I can also blow-dry style your hair for you if additional time is previously allotted in the timeline. We would need around 30 mins for this.
(There will also be an additional $75 added on to your final total.)
-For blow-dry styles on curly hair, you can arrive with freshly washed, wet hair with no products.

-To envision the look the best, one suggestion would be to try to wear a white top (could also be a color similar to your dress). If you happen to have one that you do not need to pull over your head or something that zips, those are the easiest. Please also feel free to wear a top with a similar neckline to your dress! Wearing your jewelry is optional too.

What if I don’t know which hairstyle to choose?

No worries at all. Most people are in between styles, and I totally get it! Sometimes it’s impossible to choose, there are so many options! Or maybe you are like me and just need to see it on you first! It could also be that you like the front pieces of one style, and the texture of another!

Remember: no pressure. the inspiration photos are simply just direction. Or a vibe. It’s not so much about us nailing a Pinterest photo, but more about feeling comfortable & your best!

Changing up your look for the reception? We have plenty of time to try out a couple of styles and take some pictures!

-I'd love for you to have pictures of different hairstyles that you are interested in so we can talk about them together. We can also take a unique approach, drawing inspiration from multiple sources to create a hairstyle together! I am open to all ideas! Feel free to include photos of hairstyles you've chosen for past events that made you feel beautiful. Ones you weren't so happy with are also helpful, it is important for me to know what to stay away from!

Hair extensions are not always needed, but are the perfect way to add volume and length to your desired style. If you would like to use them, please purchase these prior to your hair preview. I currently do not carry extensions, check out the links to my recommendations below!

I also encourage you to bring your headpiece, veil, any hair accessories, or flowers to try on during your hair preview.
No worries if you don't have your veil yet-I have a few different sample ones we can play around with.

What else should I know?

-We will also be chatting quickly about your package total, along with the service agreement. Going to also confirm all of the final details so we can add them to it.

-Final details will include: Getting ready location, final headcount for everyone having their hair done, first look time, etc.

-Everything is super simple, and we will read through all of it together.

-You can absolutely have someone with you at your hair preview! I recommend only one guest please, as it is easy to lose your original vision while considering multiple different opinions.
